Ivelisse Montero was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in July 1973. Raised in a home with strong values and abundant love, she developed a vibrant and creative personality from a young age, with a special passion for music and performing. After a successful career in public service, her life took an irreversible turn. A diagnosis of bipolar disorder type 1, following years of searching for answers, led her to retire from active work to focus on her mental health.
Today, after 17 years of learning, remission, and stability, Ivelisse has transformed her experiences with mania and depression into a life mission. Through her writing, she seeks to demystify mental health, eliminate the taboos surrounding it, and offer a refuge of hope for patients and their families. She lives a fulfilling and satisfying life, demonstrating that no condition defines the limits of what a human being can achieve.
